Dear parents,

Wishing everyone a happy new year! Welcome back to OLGC! It is great to see all the pupils back in school.

I am very pleased to be the form teacher again and Mrs Ho Hung Yin is the co-form teacher.

As the timetable is still subject to revisions, i will post the temporary timetable day by day via the class blog until the hardcopy TT is ready.

As for the introduction letter, i will also be issuing it to the girls next week. Please be informed that I will be starting a new class blog
under the new class, 2H and will be posting the link for that very shortly.

As for today, pls do take note of the following matters as stated below:

1) Parents are to fill up the 'Pupil Personal and Family Data 2015' by 5th January 2015 (Monday)

2) Pupils are to diligently bring their handbooks to school everyday

3) Thermometers are to be returned to school with names written (Thank you to those who have brought them today)

4) Pupils are to bring wet wipes or tissue to clean their lockers, tables and chairs.

5) An Intro Letter from the school has be given to the girls

6) Spelling list and dictation list have been given to girls. They are to stick them in their Spelling Jotter Book. Spelling for week 1 will be on next Fri. As for subsequent weeks, further updates will be given for spelling test day.

7) Relevant TextBooks/Exercise Books/Files to be brought in during the whole of next week.
(Pupils can start bringing in these resources the whole of next week at their preferred staggered days to avoid schoolbags being too heavy)
I have already started collecting for some girls who have brought these resources today.

Please do ensure that names are written on their books and files to avoid them being misplaced. I will be updating if there are any other resources to be brought in, for the coming days.

13th Oct 2014 Matters

Dear parents,

These are the homework details for the next 4 days.

1) Math Workbook:

(i)Pages 187 - 192
(ii)Pages 197-204

2) Spelling Book:

Pupils are to do all corrections and parents are to sign

3) English Unit 18 - Additional Vocabulary Worksheets

4) Filing in of all EL worksheets/compositions and Math worksheets with corrections done

5) The EL writing proficiency test will be in week 7. Pupils are to strictly adhere to the following:

(i) at least 60 words
(ii) 4 paragraphs

Content(C) component will constitute 5 marks and language(L) component will constitute 5 marks.Total will be 10 marks.

8th Oct Matters

1) Spelling List - Parents are to take note of the error in the spelling list. Week 5's spelling is pushed to week 6 as PSLE marking is on week 5 and not week 6

Matters Arising for 24th Sep 2014

1) Show and Tell Preparation : Pupils will be required to prepare for their 'Show and Tell' segment with their report that is already printed and given to them.They can bring in their stuffed toy (animal) that they have chosen in their report when doing their show and tell presentation. Since it will be in weeks 3 and 4, they can bring their stuffed toy animal and keep it in their lockers first so that they are prepared before the actual presentation.

2) Dictation: Pupils will be having their 1st dictation this Friday. They are reminded to start the dictation with 2-finger spacing.

3) As the HA for composition will be in week 7, their composition files together with EL & Math files will be returned to them this Friday. Pupils are to complete any outstanding corrections,if any. As all the files will be with the girls, they are expected to file in all upcoming worksheets/compositions on their own in the coming weeks.

1) Edusave Character Award(ECHA) forms to be handed in by Wed, 3rd Sep

2) Portfolios are to be returned by 3rd Sep with required contents signed

5) Pupils are to revise EL unit worksheets in EL file(pupils are to file this term's worksheets correctly under Term 3's tab of file) and Grammar book (the red book)

6) Pupils are to practise multiplication and division sums using any manipulative available at home such as green beans or any countable objects. They can refer to their Math workbook for examples. This can help them to be more prepared for next week's performance task (Multiplication and Division)

12th August Matters

1) Units for EL Test next week will cover up to Unit 14-The King's Cake and some units from last semester. Pupils will bring home their EL files tmr. Parents are to ensure that all corrections are done by pupils.

7th August 2014

1) Strengths' Form - A form has been given out to the pupils on their achievements for 2013-2014 based on any talents in sports/arts/cognitive/debate..etc that they have. Please do fill up the form with copies attached of the relevant certificates. Achievements will only be keyed in for girls who have submitted the forms with the relevant copies of certs attached.

2) A Letter has been given to the pupils. Pls do note the days where pupils will be required to stay at home due to PSLE oral & LC exams

3) EL spelling for next week will be on Wed(13/8) due to the PSLE oral exams on Thurs and Fri.

6th August Matters

Dear parents,

Please be informed that the 'Speeech and Drama' performance for our girls will be in September 2014.As the teacher in charge has requested for the girls to bring their costumes, I will start collecting on her behalf for girls who wish to start bringing them for collection. Please do ensure that their costumes are neatly placed in bags with their names labelled for easy verification purposes. I would start collecting the costumes from tmr onwards. Thank you.

4th August Matters

Dear parents,

Pls do take note that your daughter is to wear either school pinafore or dressed in red and white for this Friday's celebrations. Only school shoes and socks are to be worn.

Sch canteen will be closed. Pupils are to pack food/snacks and water bottle for consumption.

Sch will end at 10.30 a.m. and there were be no lessons for the day as Adopted Sisters' Programme will be carried out. Pupils are to design a CD and write their wishes for Singapore. Therefore,pupils are to bring writing materials and an empty CD if possible.

In lieu of celebrations being on Friday, Spelling test will be on Thursday, 7th Aug.

1st August Matters

1) Gentle reminder for pupils to learn the correct week's spelling. Weeks 6-8 spelling tests' marks will be taken into account for HA grading

2) Letter for National Day has been given out. Adopted sisters' programme's details are at back of letter. Pupils must wear school shoes.

30th July Matters

1) Health Booklets have been returned to pupils. Parents are to keep it safely and take note of any letters if issued to pupils for follow up

2) Math Test : Pupils are to show workings for questions and not erase them.

3) Math Workbook : Pupils are to do review 5 and hand in book only on Friday so that they can revise units such as 'Numbers to 40', 'Addition within 40' and 'Subtraction within 40' for test.

25th July

1) Parent-Child Math Home Kit on Addition & Subtraction Within 40 : Pupils are to complete this using whiteboard markers and erase completely once finished playing the game. Parents are to fill up feedback forms after completion. Submission date: 25th August

Matters for 23rd July 2014

1) Class photo taking on 29th July. Pupils are to be in full uniform with their white blouse.

2) Math File and workbook will be returned to the girls tmr for revision of their upcoming Math test next week. Pupils will need greater practice in addition with renaming and subtraction with regrouping.
